Tuesdays with Dorie: Baking with Dorie - Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

The 73rd recipe I made with the Tuesdays with Dorie: Baking with Dorie group is Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies and can be found in the Baking with Dorie cookbook on page 151.

Ingredients: flour, baking soda, butter, sugar, brown sugar, salt, vanilla, eggs, chocolate pieces, and walnuts.
This recipe came together easily with ingredients I normally have on hand in the pantry. I did take the time to get some good chocolate in chunks to chop rather than just tossing in chocolate chips which is what I usually do, so I’m thinking I’m a class above in chocolate now.  The recipe suggested using a scoop with a capacity of 1-1/2 Tablespoons and to bake the cookies 2” apart…these cookies do spread and as you can see, there are three cookies on a regular size dinner plate, they are rather large. Not that Mark was complaining, he thought the size was just great. I made half a recipe for 18 cookies, enough to keep him happily munching through the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament on tv for the next 6 days (three cookies per day, we shall see how that goes).
Is this a repeat-worthy recipe? Absolutely, definitely making these again, they might actually be his new favorite.
If you would like to join in, just make it, bake it, and leave a link to your post at the Tuesdays with Dorie website: tuesdayswithdorie.wordpress.com. At the website you will find the postings for the current recipe, the list of recipes chosen each month, and some baking chit chat that is definitely helpful as well as fun.  We don’t publish Dorie's recipes here, but you can buy the book and have them ALL at your fingertips.

  1. Ha Ha! Three cookies a day? If Mark has that kind of willpower for these cookies, good for him!!

    1. LOL, that's why I wrote about seeing how that will go...I think the cookie consumption might depend also on how his teams do in the tournament. Thanks for stopping by. :-)

  2. These definitely spread too much for my liking and never got even the slightest bit crispy (it's very humid here in Sydney so maybe a contributing factor). Glad Mark likes them - I think we all have our personal fave CCC, mine are still my mum's.

  3. I thought of you when making this recipe as I know of Mark's fondness for chocolate. These were spreader cookies. My half a batch disappeared quickly too. You seem to be doing fine with the new blog, don't worry.
