Tuesdays with Dorie: Dorie's Anytime Cakes: Cocoa-Swirled Pumpkin Bundt

The first recipe I made with the Tuesdays with Dorie: Dorie’s Anytime Cakes group is Cocoa-Swirled Pumpkin Bundt and can be found in Dorie Greenspan’s newest cookbook, Dorie’s Anytime Cakes. Today is the launch day for Dorie’s new cookbook and the launch day for this new group at Tuesdays with Dorie, now also baking from this book on the third Tuesday of each month.
Ingredients: Sugar, Cocoa Powder, Salt, Cinnamon, Chocolate Chips, Flour, Baking Soda, Ginger, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Neutral Oil, Brown Sugar, Eggs, Vanilla, Pumpkin, and Confectioner’s Sugar.
The first thing I asked myself when I saw this recipe was, “Do Pumpkin and Chocolate actually go together?’ Mark assured me that he thought they did and that I should bake on. We decided that a half recipe made in 6 cup bundt pan would be an appropriate size so I just halved the ingredients, it all fit perfectly fine, and the cake baked just short of 50 minutes. As always, there were several options for finishing the cake (depending on your level of sugar preference) so we opted for just a light dusting of confectioner’s sugar which was perfect. Mark thought the cake was excellent and would be happy to see it again at Thanksgiving so that’s the current plan, and there will be more people around to help him eat it! (New group, new recipes, same old me when it comes to eating chocolate…it did look really pretty, though.)
If you would like to join in, just make it, bake it, and leave a link to your post at the Tuesdays with Dorie website, tuesdayswithdorie.wordpress.com At the website you will find the postings for the current recipe, the list of recipes chosen each month, and some baking chit chat that is definitely helpful as well as fun. We don’t publish Dorie's recipes here, but you can buy the book and have them ALL at your fingertips.

  2. This looks like the So k-It-to-Me cake we made in the 70s. It’s a beautiful swirl. I agree with Mark about the pumpkin and chocolate. I purchase’s in my pumpkin bread.

    I’ll try to keep up!!

    1. Thank you...I always miss you all when I'm away and it's always so fun to see your posts, too. It's been a bit of a shock ditching 18 1/2 years of frequent posts in countless food groups...I'm still in shock. Thank you for the kind words of support.

  6. Hi Kayte, you have my sympathy with trying to change a blog. A few years ago my son changed from blogger to Wordpress for me. I am glad you are up and running and can participate in the newest book. Maybe when you make it again you can leave the chocolate out :) Happy baking.

    1. LOL on leaving the chocolate out...you know, I was thinking of playing around with that at some point. Mark was happy to have that chocolate in there...I bake for his pleasure so I'm always happy to see a chocolate recipe come up as I know he will be so happy. Left to my own devices, no chocolate would ever be harmed in any recipe. I tried to figure out Wordpress and it was too different than Typepad so I found blogger which was a little more similar so I decided to try that...however, I will be seeing Matt and Alli at Thanksgiving so maybe they can figure out Wordpress and show me how to do it as most of you seem to have and enjoy it. Thanks for the tip.
